Following a Chanukah ceremony in the New Jersey Assembly chambers yesterday, Acting Governor Richard Codey joined Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean of the Rabbinical College of America and Philip Levine of Flemington, in a mechanical lift to kindle the 16-foot Chanukah menorah at the steps of the New Jersey State House.

As students at the Rabbinical College of America donned silly costumes and read from the Scroll of Esther in observance of Purim, two undergraduates whose religious upbringing had led them far from Judaism paused to reflected on a similar celebration eight years ago, and how it started them on a path back to their spiritual roots.
George A. Weiss, of Hartford, Connecticut, along with Andrea and Bryan Bier, of Livingston, will be receiving honorary doctorate degrees at the National Founders Dinner of the Rabbinical College of America. The event will be held on Sunday, May 21 at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel, East Rutherford, New Jersey.
