Department of Torah and Liturgy

The root of all Jewish learning, philosophy, culture, and thought; the study of the Torah is a lifelong enterprise. Introductory courses expose students to the tools for Torah research while later courses follow the sequence of the Torah chapters to cover the entire Chumash. Eventually the study of the Torah becomes part of the student’s study schedule and he will complete the weekly portion unsupervised, and without course credit.

Prayer is, and always has been, and essential part of the life of the Jew. Formal study of prayer is a necessity for the student entering with a weak background, especially as the requirements of prayer are numerous and complicated.
