Chabad’s 41 centers throughout New Jersey, affiliates of the Rabbinical College of America, are abuzz with activity and growth, as are Chabad centers throughout the world. Several major facility expansions are now under way and in the planning stages.

For more than twelve years Chabad Jewish Center, directed by Rabbi Mendel and Malke Herson, has been operating out of a small humble house in Basking Ridge. Today this 18,000-square-foot complex stands proudly in its place, housing the Alan Zimmer Pre-school and Hebrew School.  This represents the first of two phases of construction. Stage two, planned for the spring, will house a 12,000 square-foot synagogue and social hall.

This past November a ground-breaking ceremony was held for a new Chabad Educational Center in Rockaway to augment the Synagogue, which was completed just ten years ago. The center, directed by Rabbi Asher and Sarah Herson, was established 18 years ago with a few families gathering at a local VFW hall. The new center will house the Pre-school, Hebrew School, Hebrew High, Adult Education Institute and Community Mikvah.
